Patients ask when to see an allergist in the Illinois area

Allergies may seem like a simple problem, but for patients in Illinois who are struggling with constant hay fever, itching, or hives, it may become a threat to their quality of life. Dr. Noga Askenazi and the staff are professionals available at Advanced Allergy & Asthma Associates and Food Allergy Center of Illinois who can help patients find the source of their problem and seek effective, affordable treatment.

Many patients in Illinois, who are dealing with allergies often wonder when they should go to see an allergist. A professional is available to help patients who are not seeing an improvement in their condition with the use of over-the-counter medications and creams. When patients are dealing with chronic hives or are always sniffling and sneezing, it may be time to see an allergist who can pinpoint the culprit and get patients a proper diagnosis for effective treatment.

At Advanced Allergy & Asthma Associates and Food Allergy Center of Illinois, we see patients of all ages. We recommend patients make an appointment with our team of professionals when they are ready to seek assistance from a doctor who has the experience and knowledge to help. Patients first book an initial visit with one of our doctors for their consultation. The doctor will review their family medical history, the medications they take, and discuss the problems they are experiencing with their possible allergies. Then, our team may suggest certain diagnostic testing. This may include patch testing, lung function testing, skin testing, and other specialty testing that can determine the source of the problem. Once the allergen has been detected, patients will be encouraged to avoid exposure to the food or substance that is causing them to be uncomfortable. In some situations, this may be unavoidable, and the doctor may suggest treatment options such as medications. Medications are best in cases that the allergen is environmental such as seasonal allergies (hay fever).
